Bold. How else can you describe the determined spirit of Black women in film?

Since 2002, the International Black Women’s Film Festival has been bringing you unequaled, quality film featuring Black women from around the world, while also showcasing the talents of Black women filmmakers.

Why do we need a film festival like the IBWFF?

To combat the negative stereotypes of Black women in film, television and media. Media images can impact everything from violence toward women of color, to societal perceptions of Black women, to how young, Black girls see their place in the world.

Can film, television and media help in the fight against poverty? Can it help in HIV/AIDS prevention? Can it change the world? Yes, it can!

With a line up of new, emerging, and classic films, you will be uplifted, inspired, and entertained.

The International Black Women’s Film Festival has filmmaker appearances, celebrity events, panel discussions, and a wonderful array of films and activities for you!

So join us in July 2009 for the International Black Women’s Film Festival! We can’t wait to see you there!!
